The Challenge

Achieve parity in the digital realm with the premium on-mountain experience offered by NZSki’s three ski resorts through an award-winning approach to website design.

The Solution

Setting a new benchmark

After an in-depth exploration of initial research and a thorough analysis of competitors, it became apparent that no ski resort or tourism provider had quite cracked the code when it came to website designs.

As the pioneer and industry leader in the New Zealand ski scene, NZSki deserved a website redevelopment that forged a new path, which was not only aspirational but also practical for its three ski resorts and product sales websites.

The approach involved giving each resort a distinct look and feel while collectively enhancing the customer experience (CX) across all properties. This, combined with insights from the entire customer journey, guided the development of a suite of websites geared towards mobile-first functionality. These served as both sales hubs and informational resources while staying true to the brand.

In this project, my role specifically focused on front-end design and the visual language employed throughout the websites. This journey began with initial consultations with the team to identify goals, competitors and design research aimed at recognising successful websites beyond our immediate category. It extended to the development of visual toolkits and design features, including initial briefing and ongoing collaboration with the developers who brought the vision to life.
